THE EVERYDAY NUMBERS, MADE CLEAR

Your pay, tax and super. A little less complicated.

Start with your income

Before tax, with employer super paid on top.

Only add what applies
Bonus & overtimeAdd income on top of your salary

Additional amounts exclude super. Bonus attracts employer super; overtime does not.

Superannuation12% employer contribution · No salary sacrifice

Salary sacrifice reduces taxable pay and is added back for HELP and surcharge income tests. Non-deductible super reduces cash pay only. For personal contributions you intend to deduct, use the section below. Super amounts shown are before fund tax.

Personal concessional contributionsClaim a deduction for personal super

For a personal contribution you intend to claim as a tax deduction. We deduct it from taxable income and add it back for HELP and surcharge tests automatically. Enter it here once; do not repeat it in other deductions, reportable super or non-deductible super.

The contribution is deducted from the cash income shown. Any tax benefit is an annual estimate and may arrive through your tax return.

Before claiming a deduction

This estimate assumes your contribution is fully deductible and received by a complying fund in the selected financial year. You must give your fund a valid notice of intent and receive its acknowledgement before claiming. Deadlines, age, work-test and other eligibility rules apply. A personal super deduction cannot create a tax loss. We do not verify eligibility or carry-forward cap amounts.

The full amount entered here is treated as deductible. We do not optimise a split with non-deductible contributions or estimate government super payments.

Extras-only cover does not avoid the surcharge. Cover must meet ATO requirements for you and your family.

Private health insurance does not exempt you from the ordinary Medicare levy. Partial-year or half-levy exemptions are outside this calculator's scope.

Deductions & other incomeStandard work deduction included

For eligible residents in 2026–27, work deductions are topped up to the lesser of $1,000 and labour income. Enter separately deductible items (such as eligible donations or income protection) under other deductions. Deductible expenses affect tax; their cash cost is not subtracted from take-home pay.

Income-test adjustments

These amounts adjust HELP and surcharge income tests. They are not added to cash pay. Enter reportable amounts from your income statement; employer guarantee super is excluded.

Salary sacrifice and personal concessional contributions entered above are added back automatically. Do not enter either amount again here. Use other reportable super only for additional amounts not already included above.

Tax residency & tax paidFull-year Australian resident

Adult rates only. Part-year residency, working holiday makers and seniors/pensioner offsets are not included. Foreign residents: enter Australian-source income only; overseas HELP obligations require a separate assessment.

Include all PAYG withheld, including study-loan withholding. This is compared with estimated annual tax and HELP only.

This calculator and its reports provide general factual information and illustrative estimates. Entering financial details does not provide a personal recommendation or a suitability assessment. The tool is not a substitute for tax, financial, accounting or legal advice and does not recommend a contribution, insurance policy or other strategy.

Accuracy, errors and changing rules

Calculations depend on the inputs, assumptions, rounding and selected financial year. Errors or omissions can occur in inputs, formulas, source data or software. Results may differ from payslips, ATO assessments and other calculators. Checks and review dates do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, currency or suitability. Changes to law, thresholds or ATO interpretation may apply retrospectively.

Check before acting

Check your entries and eligibility. Do not rely solely on this estimate to lodge a tax return, change withholding, salary sacrifice, contribute to super, choose insurance, borrow or claim benefits. Confirm tax outcomes with the ATO or a registered tax agent, and obtain appropriately licensed financial advice when needed. Using the tool does not engage us to prepare or lodge a return or monitor your circumstances.

Assumptions and separate liabilities

This is an annual liability model, not a PAYG withholding service. It assumes the full-year residency and family circumstances stated. Read the detailed assumptions and exclusions. Separate liabilities, including Division 293 and excess-contribution assessments, may still be payable. The tool does not verify deductions, hospital-cover eligibility, loan balances or contribution-cap carry-forwards.

Independent tool and report snapshots

FP Doc Finder is independent of the ATO; government approval or endorsement is not represented. Source links and comparison testing are not certification. A downloaded report is a snapshot, not a tax return, payslip, notice of assessment or proof of income. Recheck before later use and store or share exported financial information carefully.

Assumptions, accuracy & sourcesReviewed 4 Nov 2026

This is an annual income tax estimate for adults who are Australian or foreign tax residents for the full year. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly figures are averages, not ATO PAYG withholding calculations or a prediction of an individual payslip. Work deductions and annual offsets can create a difference at tax time.

Taxable income and income-test totals are rounded down to whole dollars. Tax components are rounded to cents. Deductions reduce taxable income, not the cash figure. Bonus is treated as ordinary earnings for super; overtime is excluded. Employer super is shown before fund tax. The 2025–26 quarterly super limit is annualised, assuming earnings are evenly spread. Paydays, irregular earnings and multiple employers can change actual contributions.

Family calculations assume an unchanged family situation for the year, no SAPTO and no spouse Medicare exemption. Hospital cover must cover all relevant family members. Part-year residency, partial Medicare exemptions, seniors offsets, working holiday rates, special tax offsets, franking credits, capital gains, termination payments, private health rebate adjustments, super fund tax, Division 293 and excess contributions tax are outside scope. Net investment losses entered here are income-test add-backs only; enter eligible deductions separately. Foreign residents' overseas study-loan obligations require separate advice.

General information only. Check the inputs and source rules for your circumstances before relying on the estimate.
